Judo and swimming add more gold at the Epade Games

Once again, judo and swimming each added gold medals at the Epade Games, the 16th edition of which is being held in Río Gallegos and neighboring cities in the province of Santa Cruz.

In the second day that was held at the Lucho Fernández de Río Gallegos gym, the discipline was once again at the top of the podium with Tisiano Mac Donel in the category up to 60 kilos who won all the fights of the day while Candela Rubilar obtained the bronze medal in category up to 52 kg. For her part, Nicole Montecino was fifth in up to 57 kg and Jerusalem López was fourth in the division up to 66 kg.

The swimming that had its debut in the Hispanoamericano club swimming pool did it in a good way with several podiums.

In the most outstanding performance, Martina Jouglard achieved the gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle. In addition, in the women’s branch, Agustina Torres won the silver medal in the 50-meter butterfly and the combined 4×100-meter relay, made up of Lucíla Carrizo, Martina Jouglard, Agustina Torres and Aldana Guzmán. And in the 200-meter backstroke, Aldana Guzmán won the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, in the men’s branch, Tomás Juglard won silver in the 400-meter medley and the boys from Neuquén also won bronze in the 4×100-meter medley relay with Román Ramírez, Juan Pablo Bustamante, Tomás Jouglard and Alfio Nicotra.

On the athletics track of the University of Southern Patagonia, in Río Gallegos, the only medal of the provincial delegation was given in the 4×400 meter relay. The quartet made up of María Enríquez, Xiomara Arrix Aravena, Katherine Rubilar and María Benítez won the bronze medal.

Another of the disciplines that needed to debut and came on the scene this Tuesday was cycling in the mountain modality that for the first time is integrated into the competition program, replacing road cycling.

In Río Turbio, which is home to this discipline, a rally of three laps of eight kilometers was held to start the contest on a very tight and technical circuit.

The Neuquén group worked as a team and this was reflected in the results, with four from Neuquén finishing in the top ten.

In fourth place was Matías Molina (1m21s: 27/100). Behind came Samuel Rivas Samuel, Fausto Reyes was eighth and Santino Rosales, tenth.

A special mention was given to Milton Hasy who, due to a mistake in copying the circuit, came in second place and thanks to his honesty he was awarded a mention for fai play (fair play).

In collective sports, basketball and women’s soccer -which in this edition defend the crown they won in La Pampa last year- after losing in their debut they recovered with two wins and on Wednesday they will seek to advance to the semifinals.

The women’s basketball team led by Alejandro Sosa after losing to Santa Cruz, beat La Pampa 65 to 46 this Tuesday morning at the JB Rocha gym and, in the afternoon, Chubut 65 to 49, with which they now share the second position with the local. Both behind Río Negro who, by beating the hosts 59-49 and then La Pampa 82-58, lead with an ideal score.

The greens will close this Tuesday at 11, on the same stage, the qualifying round against Río Negro looking for a victory that will lead them to fight for the medal again.

Similar situation experienced women’s football. The team led by Johana Alfaro, in Puerto Santa Cruz, the headquarters of the discipline, tied with Chubut without goals on the Sportivo Santa Cruz field after losing 3-2 against Río Negro on Monday and on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m., the pass to the semifinals against Tierra del Fuego.

Meanwhile, the men, at the Comandante Luis Piedrabuena Argentine Club, lost 1-0 to Chubut and on Wednesday they need to beat the local Santa Cruz, on the Jupiter field, at 4:00 p.m. to get into the semifinals.

In Río Gallegos, the men’s basketball after losing in the debut with Santa Cruz recovered against Tierra del Fuego 90 to 56 at JB Rocha and on Wednesday at Club Hispanoamericano they will meet Río Negro at 9 in search of the semis.

In volleyball, the women’s team lost at the Club Atlético Boxing Club with Chubut in a tie break and with Tierra del Fuego 3-0, being left out of the fight for the medals. This Wednesday they will face Río Negro at the end of the qualifying phase.

Meanwhile, the men’s team lost in straight sets with Chubut (28-26, 25-21 and 25-21) and Tierra del Fuego (31-29, 25-18 and 25-23), giving up all chances to fight for medals. . On Wednesday he will play with Río Negro at the Boca de Río Gallegos gym starting at 11.
