Jolien Vermeylen and Jelle Geens are triathletes of 2022 | triathlon

The Belgian Triathlon Federation has announced the best male and best female triathlete of the past year. Jelle Geens (29) and Jolien Vermeylen (28) are the laureates of 2022.

Geens finished fourth in the final standings of the World Triathlon Series. In the final round in Abu Dhabi, where he defended his title, he finished third at the end of November. He also finished fifth at the European Championships in Munich last summer.

Vermeylen distinguished himself individually with a second place at the World Cup in Bergen, Norway.

As a team, Geens and Vermeylen finished fourth last year at the European Championships in Munich in the mixed relay with the Belgian Hammers. Last year the prizes went to Marten Van Riel and Claire Michel.

Duathlon specialists Arnaud Dely and Maurine Ricour won the prizes in the elite multisport category after their silver medal in the relay at the World Games. Wim De Paepe was named Para-triathlete of the Year for the second year in a row. He took bronze at the World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
