Jesús Martínez and the plans for a new sports city: “The ideal would be to have 12 or 15 hectares”

Jesús Martínez, owner of Pachuca, met this afternoon with Alfredo Canteli, Mayor of Oviedo, to meet in person and discuss various issues that concern both parties. After the meeting, which lasted an hour and a half, Martínez announced that the next voting for the International Soccer Hall of Fame, an institution with great weight in Pachuca, will take place at the end of February or March in Oviedo.

“We had already done them once in Madrid and we were thinking of doing it in the United States, but it would be a source of pride for Mexico and for world soccer to be held in Oviedo. The most important journalists in the world would be here, we are very excited that this project is in this marvelous city”, explained Martínez at the end of the meeting.

Martínez assured that “there is a total commitment from Pachuca to continue investing in Oviedo. We have been working tirelessly day and night for four months… and we will continue like this. I am in love with my fans, they have to have the Oviedo they deserve “. The Mexican added that “we are going to do many things together. We are going to continue investing in Oviedo not only economically, but also socially, which is very important.”

Another of the issues discussed was the improvements in the Tartiere. “We are talking about the stadium, we have invested a lot of money to renovate it, on Friday there is an appointment with the people of Valencia (Molcaworld, the company that will carry out the renovation). We want the stadium to be first world, because the people deserve it, we want it to have daily life. For that you have to invest. And we are willing to do it, and that we can support each other, the capital will be brought by us as businessmen”.

And the possibility of expanding the sports city was also on the table: “We are looking at options for the sports city. The project is very ambitious. We have 40 hectares of the Pachuca project, I know that Mexico is very different from Spain, it is difficult find a space like this here, but having 12 or 15 hectares is the parameter we want to develop the sports city”.
