Javier Tebas assures that if the Superliga goes ahead, “the League is dead”

Cross fire yesterday in Madrid between detractors and supporters of the football Superliga. On the one hand, the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, denounced that the Superliga project wants the domestic competitions to be its “vassals” and warned that it would destroy them “in the medium term” on the margin of enriching clubs like Madrid and Barça, in the presentation of the conclusions of the report on the reduction of income in LaLiga.

For its part, the Superliga assures that it will be a “meritocratic competition, in which there will be no fixed places, where each team will have the right to dream and qualify”, and defended that “the clubs must be the ones manage their own destiny”. “We have the utmost respect for the courts, but the Superliga is a structural necessity and will adapt to the reality that exists after the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU”, explained Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22 Sports Management, promoter of the project and plaintiff against UEFA and FIFA.
