The Normans defeated AF Virois in the eighth round of the Coupe de France (3-0).
Stade Malherbe de Caen (L2) qualified for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France football by beating AF Virois (N3) 3 to 0, Wednesday at the Michel-d’Ornano stadium. In the next round, which will see the entry into the running of the Ligue 1 clubs, Caen will be opposed to the defending champion, FC Nantes, on January 7 behind closed doors at La Beaujoire.
The Nantes club had been sanctioned for the use of smoke bombs by its supporters during the final against Nice (1-0) last May.
