Iranian players offer their World Cup bonuses to pay prisoner bail

LE SCAN SPORT – The bonuses awarded to Iranian players at the World Cup were used to pay bail for prisoners.

Repression continues in Iran against popular anger and human rights defenders. While many opponents of the regime have been imprisoned, national team footballers, returning from the World Cup, have come to the aid of the demonstrators.

The internationals have agreed to donate their bonuses. These were used to pay the bail of some of their compatriots detained in prison, reports the media 90TV. “ Yesterday in Ardabil, 20 prisoners of financial and unintentional crimes were released, and tomorrow some will be released in Lorestan province“, explained the media followed by a million subscribers. Other releases are expected soon.
