Huelva crowns the champions the absolute Top Master Final and sub17

Huelva once again became the national badminton capital with the absolute and U17 Top Master Final, a competition held from Friday to Sunday at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace and which was reserved for the best volantes of both categories, limited to the 8 best players and the 8 best doubles couples, according to the website of the Spanish Badminton Federation (Fesba). A total of 76 players, 57 in the absolute test and 19 in the Sub17, faced each other in search of the medals.

In the absolute category the great winner has been the CAR player from Madrid Ernesto Baschwitz, who has climbed to the top of the podium twice. He has prevailed in the individual event, by defeating Natxo Cevelló by 21-12 and 21-14, and also in the men’s doubles event, forming a pair with the also CAR athlete Álvaro Leal, by beating Jaume Pérez and Fran Olivares .



In the women’s section, the individual title went to the Asturian Laura Álvarez, who has surpassed Sonia Martínez in a very even final (22-20, 19-21 and 21-12). As for the women’s doubles, the winners were Paula López and Elena Lorenzo from Madrid, after defeating local athletes Haideé Ojeda and Laura Santos (21-8 and 21-13).

The mixed doubles gold has been for the current national champions of the modality, Jaume Pérez and Claudia Leal, who had to work hard to defeat Fran Olivares and Elena Lorenzo in three sets (21-18, 18-21 and 21-15).

Regarding the sub17 category, the most outstanding athlete has been María Luisa Jiménez. The Andalusian has just won a brilliant hat-trick in the Spanish Under15 Championship and was on the podium in the Portuguese International Under17 and has confirmed her great moment in form, returning to the top of the podium three times. In the individual test, she beat Ángela Jiménez, also an Andalusian from CAETD, due to the latter’s withdrawal. In the women’s doubles event, she has won the gold along with Macarena Fernández, with the silver for Ángela Jiménez and Rocío Martín. In mixed doubles, she has won the title as a couple with Mario Rodríguez, ahead of Pepe Fernández and Ángela Jiménez.

On the other hand, the men’s individual test was dominated by the Aragonese Raúl Bergua, by defeating Guillermo Nuviala 21-16 and 21-13. As for the men’s doubles, the gold has been won by Martín Mosquera and Guillermo Nuviala, ahead of Alejandro Béjar and Pepe Fernández.
