On the occasion of the Tokyo Grand Slam organized this weekend, three French judokas distinguished themselves in Japan. Maxime Gobert won the bronze medal in -66 kg, a category dominated by the Japanese Joshiro Maruyama. Alpha Oumar Djalo tasted the same metal as his compatriot, in his -81 kg category.
Among the women, only Léa Fontaine allowed France to reach the podium. In +78 kg, she recovered a bronze medal, beaten in the semi-finals by Maya Akiba. The Japanese then lost in the final against her compatriot Akira Sone.
