Gleyber hit his first home run in the LVBP

The Venezuelan Gleyber Torres, part of the New York Yankees, hit his first home run on Wednesday night in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).

After failing seven times in a row, the Creole waiter punished a delivery by Geoff Broussard, reliever for the Cardenales de Lara, to make the ball disappear through the left field of the Estadio Universitario in Caracas.

With this convincing connection from four corners, recorded in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Venezuelan big leaguer, who had already made a spectacular defensive play, scored his first hit, home run and RBI in the LVBP.

The 25-year-old from Caracas received permission to wear the Leones del Caracas uniform in 12 games in the LVBP.

Gleyber joined other stars such as Ronald Acuña Jr., a figure of the Atlanta Braves, who received the go-ahead from Major League Baseball (MLB) organizations to see action in Venezuela.

The upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC), scheduled for March 2023, helps and serves as excuses for Venezuelan players who excel in the MLB to have a greater interest in playing in the LVBP.
