Germany – a letter to the national team

Dear Germany Team,

I’m Frank, 48 years old, and I’ve loved football for as long as I can remember.

My passion for football can perhaps be better understood by the amount of Hamburgo SV, my favorite team, that I have attended: more than 1000 and in more than 60 different countries. A love that goes beyond the limits of the territory of Germany.

My life as a fan of the German national team started with the Euro 1996 qualifying campaign. I traveled to Moldova, Georgia, Albania, Wales and Bulgaria during that period and, luckily, I was also able to go to the final to see the team win the historic Wembley Stadium in England.

I’ve followed many tournaments, full of ups and downs, since then, but the real beauty of following the The team around the world came from the experience of meeting new cultures and wonderful people.

When I look back, I think about how much money I spent and what I could have bought instead of going to football games, but I wouldn’t want to trade the experiences for money.

Looking ahead to this year’s World Cup, it will be strange not to have the tournament during the summer months. [na Europa]???????? I sincerely hope this never happens again because I like being able to go to a tournament during the summer months as it feels a bit more like a holiday. I just think it’s better!

Still, I’m looking forward to the tournament for obvious reasons – it’s a World Cup after all – but I can’t hide my disappointment that Qatar are the hosts, and I can’t hide the bitter taste left in my mouth by the way how did this happen.

I wish all the best for the tournament. I hope Germany brings home the trophy!
