Slovenian Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic had a stellar performance in his team’s 126-121 win over the New York Knicks, scoring 60 points and then asking for “a recovery beer.”

With 26 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Knicks had the victory almost assured, with a nine-point advantage on the scoreboard, which reflected 103-112 in favor of the visit and that was above the entire game.

But, in just four seconds, Dallas narrowed the margin to two points, and that’s where the stellar level of Doncic appeared.

With an intrepid and accurate movement, Doncic managed to nail the dagger to the New York team, who wanted nothing to know about defining the game in overtime. In the 5 minutes that extra time grants, the locals did their thing and beat the visit with an aggregate of 11-6, to finally win by 126-121.

13,884 games must have passed in the last 20 years without a team managing to reverse a nine-point deficit in the final 35 seconds of a game.

This was a historic day for the 23-year-old, who has already played for four years and broke NBA records. With a huge performance that saw him establish the first triple double in the history of the league with a 60/20, 60 points (personal record), 20 rebounds and 10 assists.

Before heading to the locker room, he spoke to the press, and with a tired face after the great game he had played and half smiling, he acknowledged being “exhausted” to the point that he assured: “I need a beer to recover from the game.”

Another player who had a great game on the winning team was Spencer Dinwiddie, with 25 points and 6 rebounds. In New York, Quentin Grimes contributed his own with 33 points and Julius Randle signed a good list with 29 points and 18 boards.

In this way, Dallas, which inaugurated the statue of its idol Dirk Nowitzki, is left with a record of 19-16 and chains its fourth victory in a row. Thus, they managed to place themselves in sixth position in the Western Conference, which would classify them directly to the playoffs when the season ends.
