Alejandro Restrepo and the Hernan Ramirez Villegaz Stadium they have a love story. This Wednesday the Antioquia coach gave his second round in that sporting setting. In 2021 he was crowned champion of the Copa Colombia with Atlético Nacional and a year later he turned Olympic with Deportivo Pereira.
The 40-year-old coach walked out the back door of National Athletic. In March of this year and two days before taking to the field for a Copa Libertadores duel against Olimpia, he was fired. The reason? The directives of the Antioquia team considered that the strategist did not play well.

After his departure, Restrepo landed at the helmsman of the Matecana team. The coach did not have it easy in the League, but he managed to get into the top 8. In the home runs he was the superior in a group in which he faced Millonarios, Junior and Santa Fe.
The strategist disputed in this tournament 28 games with Pereira, of them he obtained 6 draws, 8 defeats and 14 victories, the last of the feats was achieved this Wednesday by winning the penalty shootout against Poderoso de Medellín.

Restrepo became this Wednesday the first coach – in Pereira’s 78-year history – to win a league title with the team.
“He is fully prepared to take on this task. In Alejandro we find the person who, I am convinced, It has the highest ceiling, even we don’t know it yet”had sentenced the then president of Nacional, Emilio Gutiérrez.
