first blue to win in Japan on the World Tour

Gennaro Pirelli makes history: the Neapolitan judoka wins the Tokyo 2022 Grand Slam in the 100 kg category, the first blue capable of winning a Japanese stage of the World Tour. On his way, the Italian beat three Japanese and thus managed to snatch the qualification for the Jerusalem Masters (December 20-22) in extremis.

A great Italy in Japan, given that together with South Korea it was in fact the only nation capable of interrupting the dominance of the Japanese hosts, who excelled with 12 first places and 39 overall podiums in the two-day Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.
