Fiba Hall of Fame Class of 2022: Mame Maty Mbengue inducted

The legend of African and Senegalese basketball, Mame Maty Mbengue, was inducted into the Fiba Hall Fame Class Of 2022, this Wednesday, at the Maison du basket Patrick Baumann, in Mies (Switzerland). The former captain of the Lionesses is forever in the history of the world orange ball.

In the presence of the president of Fiba World, Hamane Niang, the president Fiba Africa, Annibal Manave, the Sg of Fiba Africa, Alphonse Bilé, the president of the Senegalese Basketball Federation, Me Babacar Ndiaye, the Fiba Hall Fame 2021, Mathieu Faye, the latter wanted to support Mame Maty Mbengue.

“I would like to start by thanking Fiba for giving me the great honor of being the first African woman to be part of the Legend Hall of Fame 2022. It is an incredible privilege to be here, among such amazing people who also played a key role in shaping the history and development of basketball. I can say that my love for this sport has transformed me into the woman I am today. Basketball has given me a legacy and a reputation that I’m incredibly proud of. I am also grateful to be able to inspire future generations, ”said the former Lioness, taken over by wiwsport.
