Jakarta

Position Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon threatened with achievement Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto which continues to increase. How will the Minions react?

As is well known, Kevin/Marcus have previously continued to be strong and dominate the men’s doubles sector in the last five years. Their achievements, which cannot be separated from the word champion, have faded in the last two years.

Apart from the lack of tournament participation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kevin/Marcus had internal problems with the coach, and Marcus’s injury condition this year.

Even this season Kevin/Marcus recorded only seven times participating in individual tournaments and one team tournament Thomas Cup. Of that amount, they only won the best runner-up results at the Denmark Open 2022.

No doubt, in mid-September, they finally dropped their ranking for the first time. Position Kevin/Marcus digeser ganda Jepang Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.

Kevin/Marcus’ rankings have gone up and down in the following weeks, until this week as of December 6 2022, they are in second place.

Whereas Fajar/Rian followed in third place. This achievement was obtained by them after successfully breaking into the finals of eight World Tour series tournaments with four of them winning, namely at the Swiss Open, Indonesia Masters, Malaysia Masters and Denmark Open.

It was this series of achievements that brought them the award “Most Improved Players 2022” from BWF. Currently, Fajar/Rian are pursuing the title in the BWF World Tour Finals Bangkok to close the 2022 season on a sweet note.

The fate that now seems to be upside down was calmly accepted by Kevin/Marcus.

“Isn’t it threatened (with Fajar/Rian which continues to rise) because we both keep playing,” he said Marcus to reporters.

“Yes, only the best can win, right? We always want to win and the more enemies we have, the more attraction and motivation we become. Because there are many rivals chasing us,” he said.

Well, about raising back the ranking that dropped, Kevin didn’t bother. He only focused on the results of the tournament. “After all, if the results continue to be good, the ranking will automatically increase. So just focus on the results of each tournament,” he said Kevin.
