F1 drivers also think Verstappen is the best, only Hamilton does not vote | Motorsport

The Formula 1 drivers gave the most points to Verstappen, who won a record fifteen grands prix this year and achieved the highest points ever in the championship. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari finished second in the drivers’ vote, the same ranking as this year in the final standings of the World Cup.

Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell finished jointly third on points. McLaren’s Briton Lando Norris came fifth in the election. This was followed by Fernando Alonso (Alpine) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari). Alexander Albon (Williams), Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) and Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) finished jointly in eighth place.

Hamilton was the only one of the twenty drivers to abstain from the vote.

Verstappen was also named best driver in the election of the renowned trade magazine at the beginning of December Autosport. Last week, fellow athletes and the professional jury voted him the Dutch Sportsman of the Year for the third time at the Sports Gala.
