Kometa boss Libor Zábranský responded to a series of unsuccessful duels by returning to the substitutes and expanding the implementation team, as he did several times in the past. “We wanted to change something. Even before the season, Libor signaled that he was ready for it. Now is the right time,” said coach Martin Pešout.
He praised his team for fighting. “Once again, we conceded a goal early and pushed the cart uphill. Unfortunately, we failed to equalize at 3:3 from several chances. Instead, we conceded a cheap goal. After that, with an unfortunate hit in the face with the hockey stick, we offered the Spartans a double overtime and they already expertly guarded the lead,” he acknowledged.
The team from Brno took only three points from the past seven rounds of the top competition. “We are currently going through a worse period. However, we certainly did not lack commitment against Sparta. However, when we lose, our legs don’t work so well. In my opinion, the result does not correspond to what is happening on the ice,” said Comets forward Petr Holík.
He was also sorry that the Brno team did not manage to make it 3:3. “On the contrary, the Spartans could think of almost everything there. And it’s a terrible result for us. At least we finally used the power play again after some time,” he was relieved. According to him, the players found out that the owner of Kometa Zábranský would be on the substitutes’ bench again on the morning of the match. “We didn’t deal with it in any way. he goes to the dressing room. He messed up the lines a bit. But we still have to work on the ice. The coaches won’t win it for us,” he is clear.
Holík thanked the Kometa fans from a distance for the excellent atmosphere. “But it’s clear that when he’s losing, it can’t be fun for people or us. That’s why we have to start as soon as possible,” he urges his team-mates. “The best thing is on Friday in the next home match against Karlovy Vary. We need another series of three or four wins in a row. Hopefully we’ll finally get three points, and we’ll be lucky again our side,” he wishes.
