Reporter Osasu Obayiuwana first questioned France Football’s decision not to field any Africans in its squad. “How can @francefootball pick three #BallonDor teams with no African player among the 33? Not credible at all… No Eto’o or Weah?” he wrote.

During his career, Eto’o played for clubs such as Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Everton. In total, there are 720 matches, 360 goals and 117 assists.
