The Table Tennis Association of the State of Mexico seeks to strengthen the bases with the talent program where children from the age of six are worked on to strengthen the state teams that participate in events such as the National Games and the National Universiade.
Since October they have been working with a group of 12 minors in a primary school in Toluca, which represents an important advance in the project that had been in progress for a long time.
Edgar Madrigal, president of the State of Mexico Tennis Association, stated that it is an important advance to increase the population of athletes.
“We are working with the talent program at the Isidro Fabela de Toluca School, we have 12 children working continuously and quite well, that is part of what we are doing to consolidate,” said the also specialty coach at the University Autonomous of the State of Mexico.
The person in charge of this sport in the entity, explained that in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl there is a similar program and that they have also participated in different events to increase the preparation of minors.
“We are also opening clubs, one of them in a private school in Zinacantepec, next to Ciudad Deportiva, and soon we are going to inaugurate another one that is going to be called Table Tennis Toluca, in which we will have private classes for different age groups. “, he added.
Another of the objectives of increasing the population of athletes is that the events are always full and there is no longer so much dependence on the assistance of other entities, but always being a magnet for athletes from other states.
He also highlighted that the Metropolitan Table Tennis Circuit is the most stable league in the country, it is the only one that is always held and with continuous days during the year where players from other states participate.
Finally, he stressed that the work is intense for the new season, where the events of the selective process for events such as the National Games and the National Universiade stand out.
