Edogawa University Men’s and Women’s Basketball Club Cooperates in Nagareyama City Elementary School Mini Basketball Tournament | Edogawa University

Edogawa University (Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture) men’s basketball club and women’s basketball club cooperated in the operation of the 16th Nagareyama City Elementary School Mini Basketball Tournament in 2022. The tournament was held on October 27th and November 2nd at Kikkoman Arena (Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture), with one male and one female team from each school in the city (consisting of 4th, 5th and 6th grade elementary school students) participating. The club members acted as referees as part of their volunteer activities.

The men’s basketball club and the women’s basketball club have set Edogawa University’s educational philosophy of “human pottery” as a team policy, and aim to develop human resources who can contribute to society through university education and basketball competition.
In addition to balancing academics and competitive sports, we are also working on volunteer activities in the local community, and cooperation in the operation of this tournament was part of that.

There are children in club teams who usually play basketball, and there are children who are new to basketball, and it is very important for team sports to see the whole team chasing the ball with all their might and being happy with the performance of their friends. is not easy. I felt that I could do it because I have a pure heart like an elementary school student. From next fiscal year, we will be in the position of belonging to the Kanto Division 1 league, and in order to become a team that is supported by many people, with a pure heart like an elementary school student, we will also volunteer at Edogawa University and Nagareyama City. I felt a strong desire to actively participate. Thank you very much for your valuable experience.

Women’s Basketball Club Naho Kurabayashi (3rd year, Department of Management and Social Sciences)
(Participated on October 27)
It was my first experience as a referee, so I was confused at times, but I am very honored to have been able to deepen exchanges with the people of the Chiba Prefecture Mini Basketball Federation and the children of the players, and to have contributed even a little. Also, by being a referee, I was able to realize once again my gratitude to the people who are involved in the operation of the tournament. If there are opportunities to interact with local people in the future, I would like to actively participate in various ways.
