The two players from the University of Valladolid managed to get into the tournament where only the eight best in the national ranking of each modality met.
The city of Huelva dressed up to host an unprecedented competition in Spanish badminton, in which the two UVa players were in the men’s and women’s singles events.
Both Cristina and Enrique were only one game away from being able to play the final of their modalities. Cristina managed to win a match and leave everything to a single confrontation against Sonia Martinez from Madrid, whom she stood up to in the first set but she could do nothing in the second.
For his part, Enrique began the competition by losing his first match against the finalist and runner-up Natxo Cervelló, leaving him with practically no options for a place in the final. The other two group matches for the player from Valladolid went his way after playing two good games against Corrales from Madrid and Iglesias from Galicia, but they were not enough to qualify for the final.
With this tournament, the 2022 season of the UVa team is concluded with a very positive balance and which is already preparing the year 2023 full of competitions in the first part of the year.
