A conmebol became a member of the Football For The Goals (FFTG) initiative, led by United Nations (UN)which uses football as a tool to promote sustainable development goals and the universal values ​​of human rights.

“At Conmebol, we are convinced that football is a factor for the improvement of societies. He acts as an excellent disseminator of positive values ​​that reaches all social sectors, covering all ages, genders and beliefs”, said Monserrat Jiménez, deputy general secretary and legal director of CONMEBOL.

“This strength and transversality also imposes a responsibility that we fully assume, committing ourselves to sustainable development and the defense of human rights. In this sense, it is an enormous satisfaction to join this initiative of the United Nations”, added the Paraguayan.

With the partnership, Conmebol will have access to resources, content and experiences within the UN. In addition, the South American organization will also be able to collaborate with the initiative through meetings and events with other members of Football For The Goals.

“We are very happy to have Conmebol join the FFTG in the first weeks of the initiative’s launch and to note its strong commitment to sustainability, human rights and the use of the great potential that football has as an agent of positive change”, he said.
