CONADE awards recognition to “guanajuas” athletes – El Sol de León

Leon, Guanajuato.- Athletes from Guanajuato who stood out as medalists in world events during 2022 close the year with recognition and an economic stimulus granted by the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE).

The delivery of economic stimuli was led by Ana Gabriela Guevara, head of CONADE. The total amount was 9,073,300 pesos that were distributed in 6,291.00 million pesos for athletes and 2,782.00 for coaches.

The beneficiaries were 58 athletes who in 2022 shone in the world championships of different disciplines such as taekwondo, swimming, judo, roller skating, modern pentathlon, athletics, archery, mixed martial arts, canoeing, among others. 21 coaches were also taken into account.

In this select group, representatives from Guanajuato were recognized, including Jesús Hernández, Ángel Camacho and Juan José Gutiérrez who were multi-medalists in the 2022 Madeira World Para Swimming Championships.

“We are motivated to have these recognitions and always receive a benefit from what one does, it will motivate us to fight to be the best in each of our disciplines,” said “Chucho” Hernández for CONADE.

Another “guanajua” benefited was the judoka from Celaya Isabel Huitrón who won the gold medal in judo -48 kg at the XXIV Deaflympic Games in Caxias do Sul, she also won the gold medal at the Versailles 2021 World Para Judo Championship.

Among the recognized athletes were world taekwondo champions Carlos Sansores, Daniela Souza and Leslie Soltero. As well as para-swimmers Diego López and Arnulfo Castorena.

The medalists of the Birmingham 2022 World Games Jorge Luis Martínez in roller speed skating and Miguel Becerra champion of compound archery were also exalted. The adapted sport was present with Dunia Camacho of Down syndrome swimming, Sanjuanita Vargas of javelin throwing in Down syndrome athletics.
