Christmas tournament of MTV Isenbüttel celebrates comeback

Isenbüttel. It was a long-awaited comeback on cool winter days: On the Saturday of the first weekend in Advent, the judo section of MTV Isenbüttel was finally able to host its popular, traditional Christmas tournament again after three years. The rush was correspondingly large and despite a number of sick reports, around 180 young judoka from 19 clubs in the district romped around the Isenbüttel sports hall to compete on the mat. The organizer collected the most gold medals from the district of Gifhorn with a total of eight first places.

For many, the tournament premiere

“For many of the five to twelve-year-old kids, it was their first ever judo tournament and the excitement was correspondingly high,” says Andrea Byczkowicz from the organizer. The parents who had traveled with them were no less excited and cheered on the young judoka. There were some exciting fights to see. “The possible lack of experience was partly made up for with bite,” said Byczkowicz.
