First victory for the Bayern women in the Allianz Arena – in front of a record crowd!
The team of Alexander Straus (47) won Wednesday evening in the Champions League sensational 3:1 against FC Barcelona.
Top start against the title candidates: Klara Bühl (22/4th minute yesterday) and captain Lina Magull (28/10th) scored. In the second half, Lea Schüller (25/60.) followed suit. Only Geyse (24/65) scored for Barça.
24,000 fans saw the superb victory in the arena – a record for a Bayern women’s home game! A celebrating spectator was President Herbert Hainer (68).
National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (53) at “DAZN”: “We are really happy that this wave, which we helped shape with this fantastic European Championship, is going into the clubs in the long term. The clubs do a lot for it and have the courage to go to big stadiums.”
Bayern midfielder Sarah Zadrazil (29) is delighted: “It was an incredible atmosphere! That really helped us. It makes me proud that something like this is possible in Munich.”
And further: “After the European Championship, there was rightly a hype. It is perceived that we play great football. I am pleased that we are opening doors like this for the next generation.”
