Basketball in the Gers: the VCGB must not relax

After a first and convincing victory against a top 5 of the hen, Réal Chalossais, the smile was on all the faces of the Vécégébistes. But on Tuesday, the coaches, Thomas Baurens and Frédéric Zadro quickly put the Greens and Whites back to work to improve this result on Saturday against Toulouse hopes.

A young team without complex

This young Toulouse team is the reserve team of the Toulouse Basket Club formation which evolves in National 1. Promoted this summer in National 3, it is composed of promising players who only ask to progress to have their chance higher. Axel Dao, coach of this training, has built a team with long-sighted potential, who play, despite their age (18 to 23), with altruism and nerve.

The homogeneity of Toulouse, 9 players with more than 7 points on average, allowed them to hang four victories including two against Colayrac and Agen who overcame the VCGB. They remain on two consecutive victories with a new cruising speed. Indeed, in their first 8 games, they had an average of 70 points scored, but in their last two games, they averaged 100 points… This difference comes from taking responsibility for the outside game, with a line of five back players who score a whopping 75% of their team’s points.

It might seem easy to play a team made up of young, inexperienced players. But the results of these Toulouse people suggest the opposite. Indeed, the task will not be easy for the locals who will have to control the enthusiasm and audacity of the visitors to avoid disappointment.

The Vécégébistes will most certainly be keen to end the year well in their gym, but for that, it will be necessary to control the tempo of the meeting and not to give ammunition to the young guns who would not fail to punish them.
