Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are despised again to reach the Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame class of 2023 in MLB had in Fred McGriff to his first guest unanimously for the Contemporary Era category, where the absence of the greatest home run hitter in the history of the Major Leagues drew attention once again, Barry Bonds, as well as the launcher Roger Clemensone of the most dominant of all time on the mound.

Normally, both players would be considered from their first year of eligibility, however, due to their doping scandals, they have not gathered the necessary votes to enter Cooperstown, with the rest of the King of Sports legends.

Shall I punish Bonds and Clemens?

At least 12 of the 16 available votes are needed for any player to enter the Hall of Fame from their first year of eligibility, but Bonds and Clemens, along with Rafael Palmer y Albert Bellethey did not even manage to collect 4 ballots, compared to elements such as Don Mattingly, Curt Schilling y Dale Murphywho despite not having entered, had more votes.

On January 24, it will be announced to the rest of Cooperstown’s class of 2023, in a vote conducted by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. The induction ceremony will take place until July 23, with the presence of all those awarded in person or in homage if necessary.

The judges of the contemporary era

As a supplement to the main category, the Contemporary Era is composed of judges from outside the Baseball Writers Association. The election was carried out by Greg Maddux, Jack Morris, Ryne Sandberg, Lee Smith, Frank Thomas and Alan Trammell; executives Paul Beeston, Theo Epstein, Derrick Hall, Arte Moreno, Kim Ng, Dave St. Peter and Ken Williams; and media veterans Seve Hirdt, LaVelle Neal and Susan Sluser.

Bonds and Clemens ended their careers in 2007, so from 2012 they won their right to be eligible for voting, however, they have already spent 10 years without being able to reach the hall of immortals due to the negative image of achieving their achievements sports with the help of prohibited substances.
