Badminton. World Tour Finals: hard start for Gicquel and Delrue – Badminton

World Tour Finals in Bangkok

We will have to quickly forget this match and move on! This Wednesday in Bangkok (Thailand), for their entry into the running in group A of the mixed doubles table of the World Tour Finals, Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue (N.10 in the world) were corrected 21-8, 21-9 in 25 short minutes by the Chinese Si Wei Zheng – Ya Qiong Huand (N.3). If this setback – the fourth in as many duels – is not infamous against the world champions, it is surely not the best way to approach a group stage where the vice-champions of Europe 2022 can reasonably aim for the second qualifying place for the semi-finals.

In the other match of this group, the Indonesians Rivaldy – Mentari (N.13) took the best 21-12, 21-15 over the Malaysians Goh – Lai (N.11). To hope to join the last four of these “World Tour Finals” once again, Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue will have to correct the situation against the Malaysians (2-2 in their clashes), from this Thursday, around 11 a.m.
