Badminton runner-up for Royo and Gállego

Jorge Royo and Hugo Gállego (Huesca La Magia) from Huesca were runners-up in Spain in men’s doubles in the under-13 category in the competition held in the Murcian town of Torres de Cotillas. In addition, they had a good performance in singles, reaching the quarterfinals and the round of 16.

And the Binepharean Nerea Marco had a satisfactory participationwinning a match in singles and another in women’s doubles.

Royo and Gállego lost the final of this edition of the Champion Wanted against Madrid’s Martín Fenoll and Pablo Sanz by a close score of 21-18, 21-19.

The first game was very even, but the Valencians were more effective and imposed their attacks to take it tight by 21-18. And the second one turned out practically the same. The people from Huesca fought until the end, but were unable to win. They had a chance until the end, after showing an excellent level throughout the tournament.

In the semifinal, also played this Sunday morning, they imposed themselves on the Balearic Islands Miguel Montaner and Oliver Palberg by 21-14, 21-16, with the people from Huesca showing themselves to be superior to their rivals and commanding the game with relative clarity.

In quarter finals, Huesca had beaten the Galicians Xoan Balboa and Brais Cambra 21-10, 21-15.

And in the previous league Royo and Gállego had beaten Álvaro Gómez and Daniel Marín from Sorianos 21-14, 21-8 and Nicolá Muñoz and Oihan Zaldua from Navarre 21-5, 21-4.

In individual, the highlight of the oscenses was the qualification for the quarterfinals of Jorge Royo. In the group stage they beat Asturian Saúl Bernabéu 21-8, 21-7 and Aarón Barrera from Soriano 21-10, 21-10. In the main draw, he beat Iker Bartolomé 21-14, 21-10 in the round of 16. And already in the quarterfinals he lost in his duel with the Murcian Raúl Hernández by 21-10, 21-8. This player would end up being the individual Spanish champion.

Hugo Gállego also made it to the main draw and win a match in it. In the group he beat Germán Hernández from Murcia 21-18, 21-14 and Galician Iago Álvarez 21-18, 21-12. And in the draw he beat Joan Bonet from Navarre (21-16, 211-8) and fell in the round of 16 with the Catalan Magno Salas 21-17, 21-10.

Nerea Marco from Binefare had a good championship and managed to win a match in singles and another in doubles.

Good performance by Nerea Marco from Binefaro

At Benefarense Nerea Marco she played in singles, women’s doubles, and mixed. Individually, they won a match in the group against the Asturian Deva García 13-21, 21-18, 21-17 and lost to the Galician Maia Freire 21-8, 21-14.

In women’s doubles, forming a couple with the Ladrero Alba Pérez from La Rioja, they managed to beat the sorianas Naroa Álvaro and Jimena Ayllón 21-11, 21-14. And they lost to the Catalans Mariona Ying Muñoz and Nuria Sierra by 21-7, 21-8. In mixed Marco played with Juan García, from Daroca. They lost against the Valencians Feliu Terol and Martina Molina (21-15, 21-10) and against Elías Ivars and María Magdalena Ortolá (21-11, 21-12).

Marco returns satisfied with her performance and with experience.
