Aston Martin has no problems with customer engines

Although the Aston Martin team drives under the name of the car brand of the same name, it is a customer team. The British racing stable runs with Mercedes engines and is therefore dependent on the German racing stable in that respect. However, Aston Martin does not see customer engines as an obstacle to growth.

The Aston Martin team is very ambitious and would like to grow to the top of the Formula 1 field in the coming years. Lance Stroll and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso will drive for the Canadian-owned team next season. Previously, they played with the idea of producing their own power sources, but the team now seems to have abandoned that.

Tech leader Dan Fellows thinks a customer bike is no longer a disadvantage these days. The Aston Martin man is very clear about that in conversation with Motorsport.com: “I certainly don’t feel that driving a Mercedes power unit is negative for us in any way. Both the reliability and the performance is in order. I think having a customer engine in today’s sport should no longer be a problem.”
