Alejandro Gállego from Huesca prevails in Slovenia in the European badminton circuit

Alejandro Gállego from Huesca won the Yonex Medvode Cup this Sunday, a competition for the under-17 category held in Slovenia and which is included in the European circuit. In it, the Badminton Huesca player, who started as seed number five, faced a team made up of 64 players from twelve countries.

He started his contest beating the local players Lan Valençak (21-11 and 21-6) and Vid Kosçak (21-12 and 21-15) and in two sets, a circumstance that would not be repeated until the final. In the round of 16, after having won the first round 21-16, the Czech Adam Srnec forced the third thanks to a 16-21 victory. In the outcome, the victory was Spanish with a 21-15. After, both in the quarterfinals and in the semifinal, Gállego was forced to come back. First with the Romanian Luca-Stefan Pandele, seed number two, with whom the score was 10-21, 21-16 and 21-17, and then with the Austrian Lorenz Oberndorfer (17-21, 21-16 and 23-21).

In the fight for the title he crossed paths with the Hungarian Milan MasterhazY. The duel was not easy, but he was able to solve it on the fast track with 21-17 and 21-19.

Gállego was not the only point of attention for Aragonese badminton during the weekend. In the Spanish Under-15 Championship held in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva), Gonzalo Isábal was runner-up after losing in the final to Yaidel Gil by 23-21, 17-21 and 21-17. The champion was a scourge for the representation of the Community since in the semifinals he had beaten Raúl Bergua with a 23-25 ​​and 18-21 score. Bergua and Isábal, seeded numbers one and two, belong to Badminton Huesca and formed a couple in the men’s doubles, reaching the semifinals, in which they were defeated by Yaidel Gil and Mario Rodríguez. In the mixed doubles, moreover, Bergua was second along with Iziar Barcala.
