Alcaraz’s shoes return to New York

The signed sneakers with which Carlos Alcaraz conquered the US Open last September they have been auctioned for 2,205 euros and have flown again to New York, where the anonymous citizen who won the bid resides.

The young player from Murcia, 19 years old and No. 1 in the world, who has tattooed the words with which his grandfather encourages him, “head, heart and balls”, donated the shoes to the Association of People with Down Syndrome ( Assido) to help dedicate the proceeds, some 10,000 euros in total, to different inclusive culture and leisure projects in 2023.

The auction has ended with a few frantic final moments given the interest in getting hold of the items that were part of it and were collected more than 10,000 euros.

“Once again, our ambassador Carlos Alcaraz demonstrates his commitment to the people of his land and to the people of Murcia who need it most by helping to make many life projects of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities come true and spreading the values of Assido through the whole world”, indicated the president of the association, Víctor Martínez.

“I am such a big fan of Carlitos, that is great” (“I am a big fan of Carlitos, this is great”), said the winner of the sports, who prefers to remain anonymous, according to Assido, founded in Murcia in 1981, the second oldest Down syndrome association in Spain, with more than 400 users and three centers.
