About Pressuring and the Minimap: 5 Super Tips to Get Better at FIFA 23 | esports

Tired of losing to your friends on FIFA? No worries. We went to the FIFA 23 workshop in the Wintercircus in Ghent and bundled 5 important tips from Belgian eDevils Bradley and Audric for anyone who wants to become a better FIFA player.

1. Focus on kalmte

It seems logical, but a good focus is vital if you want to start a match well.

“The kickoff is very important,” says eDevil Bradley. “If you are not concentrated two seconds before the start of the match, you will notice it immediately.”

“You can certainly not let yourself go crazy. Even if you are 3-0 behind, you always have to stay calm.”

“If your opponent can score 3 goals, you can too. So you have to keep playing your own game.”

2. High pressure

A unanimous tactical recommendation from the professionals. Put high pressure.

“I always increase the depth of my lineup before the match. I do that in the settings,” says eDevil Audric.

“I set the depth to 60 to 65. This way you ensure that your players are a bit higher on the field. This means that you can exert better pressure on your opponent.”

3. Use the minimap

A tip that comes back to both Bradley and Audric.

“Use the minimap.”

The minimap is the small screen at the bottom of the screen where you can always see the position of all players on the field.

“It’s very important to know where your players are on the pitch,” says Audric.

“During the game you can’t always see the position of all players, so that minimap definitely comes in handy. It’s very important if you want to get better at FIFA.”

On the minimap you can always see the positions of all players.

4. Defending is an art

For many FIFA players, the most difficult thing in the game: defending.

“That’s not easy,” said Bradley. “If you want to play quietly, you can certainly not get out.”

“I would make sure that as many players as possible always return to defend, so don’t select your defenders, but your midfielders and attackers to bring them back to defense.”

Audric also has a tip to swallow as few goals as possible.

“I also adjust the width of the line-up before the match starts. I would adjust it to 40-45. That way you ensure that your defense is more compact.”

You can adjust the width and depth of your line-up in the match settings.

5. Use the skills

An important part and a must for every FIFA player: skills.

“This year my favorite skill move is the ‘scissors’. A very simple trick, but very effective. You can do three different ways with it,” says Bradley. “It’s unobtrusive and unpredictable.”

“To do the scissors, first push the right joystick in the direction you’re walking and then turn the knob 90 degrees up or down.”

“My favorite skill is the ‘heel-to-heel’ that was released this year,” said Audric.

“To perform that skill, hold L1 and move the right stick up and down.”
