1,500 athletes will participate in the Granollers Special Olympics in 2023

The city ​​of Granollers (Barcelona) will host in the spring of 2023 the twelfth edition of the Special Olympics Games with the participation of 1,500 athletes.

The capital of Valles already hosted in 1994 the fourth edition of this international sports competition for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Special Olympics Games are organized by the Catalan Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities-ACELL, Special Olympics Catalunya and the Granollers City Council.

This Saturday the event that will take place from March 30 to April 2, 2023 with the participation of 1,500 Spanish and international athletes has been presented.

They will participate in 15 sports: basketball, floor ball (hockey), petanque, cycling, YAP program (for children), tennis, swimming, table tennis, handball, 5-a-side football, 7-a-side football, athletics, badminton, gymnastics, paddle tennis, fencing and rugby.

The Games will be broadcast in streaming to facilitate monitoring by family members of the participants and the unified sports modality will also be promoted, which promotes equality and inclusion.

The Special Olympics promote citizen participation, integration and social awareness through a volunteer program.

As of this month of December and until February 3, 2023, the volunteer recruitment campaign begins with the aim of bringing together 600 people.
