World Cup 2022: Tunisia – Australia 0: 1! Tunisian gets a stud in the head – out! | Sports

First the head kick, then bankruptcy!

With Tunisia, ex-Freiburg professional Mohamed Dräger (26) lost 1-0 to Australia. For the former Bundesliga player (20 appearances) it’s twice as bitter: Shortly before half-time he is hit in the face by an opponent with the shoe cleats and has to go down to the break.

Shortly before Dräger has to leave the pitch at half-time, the Freiburg native still has a great chance of scoring the goal to make it 1-1. However, his shot is blocked at the last second by Australia defender Souttar (41′).

Before that, the Australians organize a real flank festival. One high ball follows the next. With success!

23 minutes: The Australians reward themselves. A cross from Goodwin lands right on the head of striker Mitchell Duke (31), who lets the ball slide over his forehead and hits the far post. The 1:0!

Huge cheers from the boys from Down Under. After the opening defeat against France (1:4), the team coached by Graham Arnold (59) needed points to avoid being eliminated prematurely.

After the lead, Tunisia pressed for the equalizer. First Dräger misses the chance, then captain Msakni has the biggest chance on his foot seconds before the break whistle. From five meters, the striker pushes the ball past the goal.

Tunisia is also better in the second round, but fails again and again to Australia keeper Matthew Ryan (30), who holds Australia’s first three-pointer at a World Cup since 2010.

After the strong performance in the 0-0 draw against Denmark, the first setback for the Tunisians.

They now need a win against France on the final day of their group match, while Australia can secure a place in the knockout stages against Denmark. The Socceroos last managed to do that at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
