Fifa is investigating the DFB for violating the press conference rules. The World Federation Disciplinary Committee is investigating violations of Article 44 of the World Cup regulations, several articles in the Media and Marketing Rules and the Team Handbook.
Reason for the investigation: Last Saturday, national coach Hansi Flick (57) faced the second World Cup group game against Spain (1:1) the journalists. However, the ex-Bayern coach sat alone on the PK podium.
However, all teams are obliged to make a statement to the world press in addition to the head coach before each game.
Flick’s reason for his sole appearance: Since the PK took place at 2:15 p.m. in Doha, the final training session would have been too close for the players. This started at 5:30 p.m. at the team camp in Al-Shamal, which is about an hour from Doha.
Flick: “We don’t want to put any player through this journey, it’s almost three hours. The players should prepare for the training in the important phase. We have to accept that.”
The DFB now faces a warning or a fine.
The next PK will take place on Wednesday, one day before the final and crucial final group game against Costa Rica.
