Humphreys, 24, made the public announcement to his teammates at a United unit meeting.
“It’s a truth I tried to deny for a long time, but now I feel comfortable coming out. I’ve come to a point where I can come out with my homosexuality and continue to participate in professional sports,” Humphreys said.

In a conversation with his teammates, Humphreys did not hide that he considered committing suicide in difficult moments. “During this time, I have suffered a lot, but I have learned a lot and I feel happy the way I am,” emphasized the basketball player.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) said the organization was grateful that Humphries shared his story.
After graduating from college, Humphries has played mostly in the NBL. He also played five games for the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA.
