Two effective matches for Philip Zinckernagel

The Standard player is also fined 2,500 euros.

Zinckernagel had been expelled on November 5 in Eupen (2-0 defeat) for having planted his crampons in the tibia of Rune Paeshuyse. Referee Wesli De Cremer had shown him the red card directly, the first direct of his career at 27 years old.

The Belgian Union Prosecutor’s Office had proposed three suspension matches, two of which were effective and one suspended, and a fine of 2,500 euros. The club and the player had refused this proposal. The Disciplinary Committee followed the prosecutor’s request. The club then appealed. The Disciplinary Council found the appeal admissible but unfounded and therefore confirmed the sanction of two effective matches and one suspended because Zinckernagel “committed a gross fault, seriously endangering the physical integrity of the opponent”.
