To one point… – Orléans (45000)

The time for regrets has come for the players from Orleans, forced to draw (4-4) by Paris 20. In a meeting that they knew was crucial to see higher, the CLTO players started off on Saturday with two mixed doubles. Two perfectly mastered meetings, and won without flinching (2-0), except for the first set for the Maroto / Chailloux pair.

On the other hand, it was more complicated for Charron, defeated in two sets by the aggressiveness and speed of the Sri Lankan Corera. A hitch but nothing more, because the two simple ladies fell logically into the Orleans pocket (4-1). The CLTO had overall control over the game and this gave wings to Florian Sevin who dominated Bernard Tang (74 e French player). At least until 20-19 in his favor in the second set… There, on his match point, Sevin had to bow. He lost the set and then soon the match, asphyxiated by the opposing game and his own frustration (4-2).

The unwelcome counter-performance of the women’s doubles, and the cruel scenario of the last match, the men’s doubles, ended up eating away at the minds of Orleans, “disgusted by the scenario”. “In this last match, we could have done better”, pointed out Augustin Quétard, “but the pair opposite were very complementary and knew how to hurt us in crucial moments. And we didn’t serve well enough at the end.
