“Things are moving to fix it”

BarcelonaFor the first time since the conflict broke out inside the dressing room of the Spanish national team, the footballers have spoken publicly. Irene Paredes, captain of the state team and Barça, has given her opinion on the situation that is keeping them away from the team led by Jorge Vilda. “It’s complicated. It’s not in good taste for anyone. It has to be resolved internally and I know that things are moving. We are focused on doing well with Barça,” said the Basque, who, despite and not having sent the email where they asked not to be called up by the selector, supports her teammates and stands on their side.

“It has to be done privately, and that’s the line we’ve followed in this matter,” said Sandra Paños about the way soccer players handle the situation. Hermeticism and internal management, this is the maxim defended by the 15 players who communicated to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) that they did not want to be called up until the conditions of the team and the structure were professional. “Whether the reasons are understood or not, I don’t know. I care about the team, the teammates, and I can only tell you that it is not easy at all, but only by taking steps forward can the situation be resolved,” he commented the Alicante goalkeeper.

Opposite strategy to Vilda

While them fifteen have remained silent regarding the conflict, the selector has opted for a totally different strategy. Through the press conferences and the calls, the selector has made his position clear: he does not understand the demands of the players and asks for a rectification to solve the situation. “The players need to reflect and know what they have done. Everyone can step forward to recognize the mistakes. They are not well advised. Everything that has been set up makes no sense. Do we deserve this? I think no”, said Jorge Vilda in a press conference a few days ago.
