These are the remaining scenarios for the Red Devils to advance to the next round

Due to the 0-2 defeat against Morocco and Croatia’s 4-1 win against Canada, the Red Devils have come into a situation in which they have to beat vice world champions Croatia on the final day in order to be able to advance to the eighth finals. In theory, the Belgians can also push through with a draw, but that chance seems very small.

After two matchdays, Croatia and Morocco are now together at the head of group F, which our Red Devils are in. Both countries count four points, Belgium has one point less. That makes it simple for the Red Devils: if they beat Croatia, they will jump over the vice world champions and they will certainly be in the eighth finals. That will then be number two in the group, unless Morocco cannot beat Canada at the same time. With a new defeat, they are certainly eliminated and the World Cup of the Belgians will end on Thursday.

Croatia needs a draw against the Red Devils to secure the eighth finals. With that result, the Belgians are almost certainly out … unless Morocco loses by four goals to Canada, who has already been eliminated. Then the Belgians would finish above Morocco on the basis of goal difference. A difference in favor of Canada could also suffice, but only if the Belgians score twice as much as Morocco (for example Morocco-Canada 0-3 and Belgium-Croatia 2-2). Although that possibility seems mainly theoretical and very unlikely.
