The Playoffs – Aaron Rodgers hurts and Jalen Hurts leads Eagles victory over Packers

The Philadelphia Eagles received the Green Bay Packers at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday (28) and won by the score of 40 to 33 on Sunday Night Football in week 13. The victory keeps the team commanded by Nick Siriani in the fight for the best campaign in the NFC, leading the conference 10-1, the Packers (4-8) practically kiss the playoff chances goodbye in the current season.

Jalen Hurts was the highlight of the game with 153 passing yards, 157 rushing yards and two TDs thrown. He became the first player in league history to have at least 125 rushing and rushing yards in a single half. Miles Sanders also produced a lot on the ground with 143 rushing yards and two TDs, while AJ Brown was the team’s best receiver in the game with 4 catches 46 yards and a touchdown.

For the Packers, Aaron Rodgers completed 11 of 16 passes for 140 yards, two TDs and two INTs. The QB was injured in the second half and never returned. AJ Dillon (64 yards and a TD), Aaron Jones (99 total yards and a receiving touchdown) and Christian Watson (4 receptions for 110 yards and a TD) were the highlights among the offensive players.

THE GAME

The Eagles scored a touchdown on the game’s first drive on a three-yard run by Kenneth Gainwell. The highlight of the drive was Jalen Hurts, who gained 52 yards on the ground in just two carries.

On Aaron Rodgers’ first drive, the QB was intercepted trying to connect a pass with Allen Lazard, deflected by Darius Slay and remaining with the defense. Three plays later, Miles Sanders reached the endzone and extended the lead to 13-0 after Jake Elliott missed the extra point.

The Packers responded in the 1Q, after a good run by Aaron Jones, who turned a land TD by AJ Dillon and then a pass by Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb, turning to 14 to 13.

Philadelphia opened the second quarter with another Sanders TD on the first play of the partial. Then, the Eagles defense intercepted Rodgers for the second time on the night, but the team’s offense returned the gift with a fumble suffered by AJ Brown. Three plays later, Rodgers found Jones in the endzone to tie the game 20-20.

In the last few seconds of the first half, there was still time for Hurts to find Quez Watkins on the side of the endzone to lead 27-20 at halftime.

The third period was more restrained in terms of scores. The Eagles extended their lead to 14 points after Hurts found Brown in the end zone once again, and the Packers closed the gap with a Mason Crosby field goal, the first of the game.

In the fourth quarter, Jordan Love took over from Rodgers and found Christian Watson alone for a deep connection. But it was too late for a reaction from the visitors. Final score: 40 to 33.

UPCOMING GAMES

The Eagles face the Titans next Sunday (4), while the Packers play against the Bears.
