despite still not having LeBron James available, Los Angeles Lakers added this Sunday their third win in a row. After beating Brooklyn and Detroit, this time Darvin Ham destroyed the San Antonio Spurs by 123-92. The constant in the three wins? The superlative level of Anthony Davis.
The AD thing was just monstrous for the last seven days. Against Brooklyn he finished with 37 points and 18 rebounds. Against Detroit he did it with 38 points and 16 rebounds. While this Sunday added 30 points and 18 rebounds in less than 28 minutes in the field.

35 points and 17.3 rebounds on average in the last three games, with three wins for his team. Numbers and performances worthy of the best Davis in New Orleans or his most decisive starts with the Lakers in a 2019-2020 season that saw them win the title.
In fact, the last time AD accumulated three consecutive games over 30 points was precisely in March 2020, days before the stoppage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That was the only time he got it wearing the colors of the Lakers while with the Pelicans he had a run of five +30 in January 2019.
The last one with three consecutive games of at least 30 and 16 rebounds? Nikola Jokica few months ago, on his way to his second straight MVP.

Davis has totally set aside its perimeter aspirations, to enroll 100% in interior functions. In defense, controlling the boards and protecting the hoop, and in attack, becoming the owner of the rival paint. In fact, it takes five straight games without scoring a triple and barely registers four in the entire season.

Dennis Schroder he had a good performance (13 points, 4-7 from the field) in his second game of the season. Russell Westbrook (10 points and 10 assists) continues to shine in the role of sixth man. And the most important, Anthony Davis has been playing for a week now as a firm MVP candidate.
The key for the Angelenos will be to sustain those good feelings once LeBron returns and the minutes, shots and functions are again modified to accommodate the Rey. In that sense, a huge challenge is coming up for Ham’s men, visiting the Phoenix Suns this coming Tuesday, probably already with James back among their ranks.
