The effects on traffic in Donostia due to the celebration of the marathon

DV

The Zurich Marathon of Donostia-San Sebastián will cause traffic cuts and changes this Sunday in the Gipuzkoan capital. The conditions for the test, which recovers the Half Marathon, will be concentrated from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The marathon opens its new route this year, a practically flat circuit that will cover the most emblematic places of the city, such as the Buen Pastor cathedral, Avenida de la Libertad, Paseo de La Concha, the Reale Arena, the Kursaal cubes , the Gipuzkoa square or the Vitoria Eugenia Theatre. The neighborhoods of Amara, Loiola, Centro, Gros and Antiguo will be affected and it is recommended to use public transport. Thus, Dbus services will be free from November from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (except lines 38 and TB6).

The races will start from Hernani street and will end at the Boulevard. The start of the 10 kilometers will take place at 08:20. The Half Marathon and Marathon will be at 09:00. The last runners are expected to arrive at the Boulevard by 2:00 p.m.

The Boulevard will be closed from 00:00 hours and Hernani street will be cut, from Peñaflorida, from 6:30 hours. The Boulevard will remain closed for dismantling the finish line, until approximately 5:00 p.m.

The residents of the Center, Gros, Antiguo and Loiola y Amara who want to use their vehicles may do so following the instructions of the Mobility agents and race organizers to find the exit from the areas affected by the race.

Regarding traffic cuts, it should be noted that, after 8:00 a.m., crossing the city from East to West must be done by the GI-20 variant. On the other hand, both access to and exit from the city via the Urumea road will be permanently open. Movements in the city are expected to slow down and, therefore, it will be convenient to leave with enough time.
