At the 53rd Meiji Jingu Baseball Tournament (from November 18th), where the Athletic Association’s hardball baseball club participated as the winner of the Tokyo Big 6 Baseball League, the team won the championship for the first time in six years and a record seven times.

Meidai defeated Kansai University 2-1 and Meijo University 5-1 to advance to the final. The final match was held on the 24th after being postponed for one day due to rain, and was a tough pitching match against Kokugakuin University, the representative of the Tohto University Baseball Federation. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Minoo Kaito (fourth-year student at the Faculty of Letters) scored one run with a timely hit. We managed to keep the one-point lead and won with a score of 1-0.

Manager Takehiro Tanaka said in an interview after the game, “The fall league games started off as irregular and long-running matches, and every university (against) was a great team. I knew it would be a thrilling match against Kokugakuin. However, I am overwhelmed with emotion that I was able to win.” Furthermore, he said with a smile, “I’m glad that I was able to connect the six championships that the great seniors have built up. Please praise the players.”

Next, captain Kaito Muramatsu (Faculty of Information and Communication, 4th year) was delighted, saying, “I was able to pass on the best in Japan to the lower grades.” Let me say it,” he said, “It’s the best!”

Thank you for supporting the hardball baseball club through Jingu Stadium, TV broadcasts, and Internet distribution.
