Thanks to Wanger: Magic slow down Doncic – concerns about LeBron

Led by a strong Franz Wagner, the Orlando Magic beat the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. The New York duel goes to the Nets. And the Bucks need two overtimes to win in OKC. The NBA from Thursday night.

(Almost) no getting through for Luka Doncic and the Mavs: Orlando slowed down the Texans thanks to Franz Wagner.

The Mavs were successful recently, but against Orlando the small series of four wins in a row for the Texans ended. Mainly responsible for this: Franz Wagner, who was the best thrower of his team with 22 points. The key to victory for the Magic – who had to do without high-flyer Paolo Banchero (ankle injury) – was above all convincing defensive work, which Luka Doncic and Co. slowed down. The Slovenian stayed below the 30-point mark for the first time this season.

“We as a group and as individuals have everything to prove in this league,” said Wagner. “We weren’t happy with our performance against Houston the other day. We want to be a resilient team. We need to get better at finishing games and playing from mistakes.”

KD unstoppable: Nets beat Knicks

The Brooklyn Nets won the city duel against the New York Knicks. After Jacque Vaughn was appointed as the new head coach and successor to Steve Nash, KD and Co. brought in an unchallenged 112:85 victory. The Nets had already developed a reassuring 25-point lead at the break. Durant put on a tiple double (29 points, 12 assists and rebounds each). Seth Curry also attracted attention with his best game of the season and 23 points.

OKC and the Milwaukee Bucks delivered a wild exchange of blows. Without Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday, the title contender needed two overtimes to clinch a narrow 136-132 win. Jevon Carter jumped into the breach for the rested stars (36 points).

The 2021 champions remain at the top of the Eastern Conference, in which the Boston Celtics climbed to third place thanks to their fourth win in a row (128:112 against Detroit). Jayson Tatum trumped with 31 points, Jaylen Brown also had a great day and scored 30 points with some spectacular throws and dunks.

LeBron injured – Four Wolves provide laughter

Meanwhile, the LA Lakers are happily struggling. In the city duel against the Clippers there was a 101:114 defeat. That’s not all: LeBron James had to leave the floor injured shortly before the end after a solid performance (30 points, 8 rebounds). A diagnosis is still pending.

Speaking of the crisis: The Timberwolves didn’t manage the turnaround either, rather suffered a 117:129 defeat against the Suns – and made a fool of themselves with a crazy scene: In the second quarter, Minnesota only defended for a short time with four and conceded a three-pointer because D ‘Angelo Russell hadn’t realized he was supposed to be on the field.
