National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has announced a rotation in the goalkeeper position for the second test match of the German soccer team against the USA.

Almuth Schult (Angel City FC) and Ann-Katrin Berger (Chelsea FC) are to be used in the game on Sunday (11:05 p.m. CET, ARD live stream), said Voss-Tecklenburg. Regular keeper Merle Frohms (VfL Wolfsburg) was in goal for the vice European champions in the 2-1 win in the first duel on Thursday (local time).

Voss-Tecklenburg also wants to choose the line-up for the test in Harrison near New York with a view to the further strain at the end of the year. “We won’t use every player because we’re being considerate of what came before. We thought about it in great detail beforehand, how we’re going to approach the first and second games and how we all the players, especially those who are still there going into the Champions League, doing justice,” said Voss-Tecklenburg.

The two encounters serve as preparation for the World Cup from July 20 to August 20, 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. There, Germany meets Morocco, Colombia and South Korea in the preliminary round.
