Struggling, Klay Thompson sees the bright side

On his own, he symbolizes almost all of the Warriors’ problems. Yet convincing at the end of the playoffs, Klay Thompson saw the worst start to the season of his career with 35% on shots, including 33% from 3-pointers. Admittedly, he is close to 15 points on average, but his clumsiness is expensive, and he no longer has the same impact on the game.

Blame it on the backlash of his return after almost three years without playing, but also on this shortened preparation due to his apprehension. At 32, he is said to be on a slippery slope, and consultants have had harsh words for him. Not to mention social networks where some have short memories.

“I was there for these titles, and people act like they forgot about it” he replies to the Bleacher Report. “I feel like I deserved more credit for battling through all those injuries. I helped the team win the title last season, and people still want to overlook what we do…”

“No need to panic. We are at 14 games.

With four rings on his fingers, which he couldn’t help but show to Devin Booker before being expelled, Klay Thompson has nothing more to prove. He’s a potential Hall Of Famer, and what he wants is above all to get back to his level.

“You know what I learned about that?” You can’t please everyone. But on a personal level, it’s about rediscovering this form of efficiency and this “two-way player” side that allowed me to be a great player. And I feel like I’m well on my way to getting there. I have no doubt that I will get back into shape. »

A trajectory similar to that of the Warriors who also seek their effectiveness on both sides of the field.

“We are just a bit at an impasse” recognizes the “Splash Brother”. “But in our heads, we think we are lucky to get out of it early. The good side of things is that I’m happy to experience this now rather than in a few months. No need to panic. We are at 14 games. It’s a long season. We face the challenge of stringing together two games in a row, which is incredibly difficult. And then try to integrate the new ones. It will take time but we will get there.”
