FC Twente played the away match against Sparta Rotterdam on Friday evening and Luca Everink sat – despite the groin injury of strong holder Joshua Brenet – on the bench at the club from Enschede. Surprisingly enough, left leg Anass Salah-Eddine started as a right back.

Leon ten Voorde draws a clear conclusion. “Such a staff doesn’t do that for nothing,” he says in the podcast The Balls Mind van TC Tubantia. “Twente will just get two new right backs next season. That’s because they are simply not satisfied with Everink,” Ten Voorde notes.

“I understood the choice (by Ron Jans to ‘pass’ Luca Everink after his weak substitution in the home game against Go Ahead Eagles, ed.)”, the reporter continues. “You can find that very sad for Luca Everink. It may well be, but it is top sport,” emphasizes Ten Voorde.

“People often point to sc Heerenveen-uit, where he (Everink, ed.) played well”, he looks back. “But at Utrecht-uit he was also involved in a goal against in injury time last year, that he had no idea and did not scan its surroundings. They are just not satisfied with him,” concludes Ten Voorde.
