Sestao River’s first league defeat in ten months

c. d.

Brea wins 0-1 in Las Llanas and manages to break the historical record of 28 unbeaten league games for the green and black

Sestao River’s brilliant record of consecutive matches stands at 28. A difficult figure to beat, but one that they have not been able to extend against Brea. The team from Zaragoza has managed to uproot that dynamic in which they have been immersed since January, giving the bell and winning 0-1 in Las Llanas. The cup hangover has not been kind to two of the three teams from Biscay. The Sestaotarras and Arenas have lost, so the former continue to maintain their distance in the lead despite the defeat. They continue four points above the red and black.

The green and black were unrecognizable during the first half hour of the crash. Off, they did not have that fang and intensity that characterizes them and they were very imprecise with the ball at their feet. It was one of the worst versions they have shown in Las Llanas this season. At this time, Brea was more comfortable and an error put the game uphill for the Sestaotarras from very early on. In the third minute, Cantariño scored with a header that Crespo missed. The stands supported him instantly.

A complicated script for Sestao River, since Brea, despite occupying the relegation places, arrived as one of the most solid teams in the championship, with only nine goals against. The first opportunity for the home team did not come until minute 32, with an acrobatic header from Baqué that the goalkeeper repelled showing great reflexes. On the next play, Leandro tried it with a cross shot that went off to the side without anyone pushing it. They would have to keep insisting after the break.

He did so and continued looking for the rival goal, with a very different attitude than at the beginning of the first half. At 52 minutes into the game, he was about to equalize the match. Gorka Garai made a long move for Leandro, who finished off at the turn, and ended up being taken out by a rival defender from under the posts. Brea dedicated themselves to defending their advantage with the lines very close together and close to their own area. They did it perfectly and Biarge hardly had to intervene. They showed off their defensive numbers. The Sestao River did not give up, but could not finish the plays, without great noteworthy actions until the end.
